“The Grand Lodge is an outstanding piece of built heritage for South Australia and has stood proud since the early days of the State.

Our challenge is to work with our members and the community to reach an agreed consensus on the best way to address the urgent work needed and consider what the future holds for the building and its home to Freemasonry,”

Past Grand Master Dr. Neil Jensen

The custodians of 254 North Terrace Adelaide are being asked for their feedback on strategies to ensure the preservation of the building remains sustainable now and in the future.

One of these options is, unfortunately to sell the building, possibly to a foreign owner and lease back areas of importance to our association.

Another is to retain and develop the rear part of the site to create a welcoming new enterprise as well as an income producing asset. Even this choice will require some sacrifice.

Freemasonry has been part of South Australia's culture since its foundation as a colony. Any new development will be as much about the people of South Australia as it is the tradition of Freemasonry and we humbly invite your thoughts and feedback .
